Thanks To All Who Supported Diabetes in the Limelight Jamboree

The Bovell Cancer Diabetes Foundation would like to thank the following persons, organisations and companies for their financial, moral and in-kind support.

The Commentator, Dr. Eastlyn McKenzie, former Independent Senator, Trinidad and Tobago Senate did a spectacular job of chairing the event, guiding the participants to the respective booths, as well as providing snippets of diabetes information and tips in a humorous manner.

The Minister of Labour, Small and Micro Enterprise Development, also Member of Parliament for Tobago East, Honourable Rennie Dumas for the financial, moral support and for presenting the trophies to the primary school children poster competition winners.

Hon. Claudia Groome-Duke, Secretary for Education, Youth Affairs & Sports, Tobago House of Assembly, for the financial and moral support for the challenge trophies, prizes, lunches for the school children and the sound system for the Jamboree.

Hon. Albert Pilgrim, Secretary for Health and Hon. Hilton Sandy, Secretary for Agriculture, Marine Affairs & the Environment, Tobago House of Assembly for the financial and moral support. The Head Librarian, Heather Gray and Michelle Denoon, Roxborough Librarian, Division of Education, Youth Affairs & Sports, Tobago House of Assembly, for their assistance with the display of the children's artwork and for the extended exhibition of the display at the library. The team of judges headed by Mr. Brian Nurse for assessing the forty something posters received.

For the spectacular entertainment - the Roxborough Chorale led by Mr. & Mrs. Len and Vernella Toppin and Mr. Carl Hector for his calypso renditions. The following companies and organizations for their prizes, support and coverage of the Jamboree - Jan Care Day Spa, Diana Candy, Turban Curry, SM Jaleel & Co Ltd., Trinidad Nestle Trinidad and Tobago Ltd, Blue Waters, National Flour Mills. The following media houses, which helped us with public service announcements: Mr. Akili on the Wake UP Tobago program, Radio Tambrin, Ayanna Holder, News Editor and her technician of Tobago Channel 5, Nicola Barriteau, Television Presenter / Producer, Caribbean New Media Group and the Tobago News.

The several volunteers who assisted with the planning, setting up, and running of the various booths - Nurse Voy Dillon, Nurse Pope, Helen Bernard, Esla Davidson, Velda Wright, Keturah Marcelle, Mary Boucher, Garth Byron, Simona Jackson, Lisa Horsford, Marlene, Simone Murray, Leah Newsam, Carlon Sealy, Marc-Anthoni Bovell-Hector, Joycelyn Blackman-Muir and her daughter Sachel Muir, Monica Daniel, Orville Moore, Merle Hercules, the doctors, technicians from Tobago Medical Lab led by Pearl Chin (Manager), Joelle Roberts, Marian Goddard and Serena Ramsingh. Special thanks to Mr. Anderson who operated the sound system tirelessly and efficiently all day long. To all the participants, the Principals and teachers who encouraged and guided their students to participate in the poster competition and all those who supported us, a big thank you.
